Cookie Policy

Ultimo aggiornamento

Per ora questo documento è disponibile solo in inglese. La versione italiana è in preparazione.

Effective date: 12 September 2026

This page says which cookies luminars.io sets, why, and how to refuse them. It is part of our Privacy Policy. The site and the console are run by Matteo Giardino; write to matteo@luminars.io with any question.

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise the browser on the next page or the next visit. Some cookies are set by us (first-party); some are set by a company whose service is embedded in a page (third-party). Similar storage, such as the browser's local storage, is covered here in the same way.

2. The cookies we use

2.1 Your language

NameSet byPurposeLasts
luminars_localeluminars.ioRemembers whether you read the site in English or Italian, so the choice sticks between visits and the site does not bounce you to the other languageOne year

This cookie is needed for a choice you make on the site and carries no identifier. It is set when you pick a language, and once when the site first sends you to the language your browser prefers.

2.2 Analytics

We use PostHog to understand which pages are read, which buttons are used, where visitors come from, and how the console is used. It sets:

NameSet byPurposeLasts
ph_[project]_posthogluminars.io (PostHog script)A random identifier for this browser, so that repeat visits count as one visitor; the pages viewed and the actions taken on themOne year
ph_[project]_posthog (session storage)luminars.io (PostHog script)Groups the pages of one visit into one session; cleared when the browser tab closesThe visit

The identifier is random and is not your name or email. In the console, after you sign in, the identifier is joined to your account and your workspace, so that we can see how the product is used, as described in the Privacy Policy. Our PostHog project is on PostHog's European cloud, and it is set to discard the IP address of a visit as it arrives, so we do not keep it. We do not record sessions and we do not use heatmaps.

These cookies are not necessary for the site to work, and they are set from your first visit. A banner tells you so on that visit and offers to stop it. Press Decline and the script stops at once, the cookies above are deleted from your browser, and it is not loaded again. Section 3 says how, and how to change your mind later.

Your answer to the banner is remembered in the browser's local storage, under luminars_analytics_consent, not in a cookie: a record of your cookie choice should not itself be a cookie. It holds no identifier and never reaches us.

2.3 Payments

When you choose a plan, you leave the app for a payment page hosted by Stripe at checkout.stripe.com. On that page, Stripe sets its own cookies to run the checkout and to detect fraud (for example __stripe_mid, kept for one year, and __stripe_sid, kept for thirty minutes). Those cookies are set on Stripe's domain, under Stripe's privacy policy, not on luminars.io. The pages we show you after checkout (/billing/done, /billing/cancelled) set no cookies of their own. No Stripe script runs on a luminars.io page.

2.4 Signing in to the console

The console keeps your sign-in session in the browser's local storage, not in a cookie. It is used only to keep you signed in and is removed when you sign out.

2.5 What we do not use

We set no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking cookies, and we embed no social media buttons that would set cookies on our pages. We do not sell or share visitor data with advertisers.

3. How to refuse

  • Analytics. Press Decline on the banner. The script stops at once and the cookies it set are deleted, so nothing of it is left in the browser. To change your answer later, at any time, use Cookie choices at the bottom of any page on the site: it forgets what you chose and asks again.
  • Your browser. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, for all sites or for one site, in its settings. If you block the language cookie, the site still works; it just does not remember your language between visits.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. The site does not act on these signals today. Use Decline, or your browser's cookie settings, or write to us and we will remove what we hold.

4. Changes

When the cookies we use change, we update this page and its date. If a change would need your consent, we ask for it before setting the cookie.
